Milland Green Fair

Published: 27 September 2021

Milland Green Fair, organised as part of the National Great Big Green Week, took place on Sunday 26th September 2021. The sun really shone on this wonderful Climate Awareness Event! Milland Parish Council is extremely grateful to all those involved: organisers, volunteers, stall holders, Hollycombe School, speakers and all those that attended! We were not entirely sure what we had taken on when we decided to host our ' little' event as it grew and grew. But the Mission Statement remained the same; that we wanted to put on an event where a variety of Climate Awareness topics were addressed. The event covered everything from small changes that can be made by all, to the larger topics which were discussed by our panel of experts. What was most noticeable was the fantastic community spirit, with children and adults coming together to enjoy, reflect and discuss. The atmosphere for the day was overwhelmingly positive from the moment we started setting up to the point the last tent was taken down! A point that really summarised the day for me was when it came to returning the field to normal and armed with litter pickers and bags - there was NO litter to pick up, the respect shown to the field, the organisers and most importantly Mother Earth was a really lovely moment to experience! A special thanks goes to the wonderful Sue Hoar, who had no idea what she was taking on, who worked tirelessly to make the event happen and ultimately whose vision we saw created!
